The 3rd Chinese Beef Cattle Breeding and Improving Seminar along with the International Seminar of Industrial Development, sponsored by the College of Animal Science and Technology, Northwest Agriculture & Forestry University and National Beef Cattle Improvement Center was held at Yangling from Nov. 16 to Nov. 19, 2015. More than 200 delegates from 10 countries including China, the United States, Canada, Australia, South Korea, Japan, France, Pakistan, Vietnam and Tanzania attended the seminar.


Centering on “strengthening the technical innovation of the beef cattle industry and promoting the modern beef cattle industry”, experts carried out in-depth talks during the 2-day-long seminar. There were 42 guests, including the academic Yin Yulong, director Jia Jingdun, professors Meng Qingxiang, Song Jiuzhou, Zhang Qin, Zan Linsen, Chen Hong, Luo Xin and researchers Liu Yuman and Diao Qiyu from China, professors James Reecy, Tad Sonstegard, Yu Peiqiang, Rodney Hill, Il-Keun Kong and Sang-Gun Roh from abroad, delivering speeches for the seminar. They discussed six special topics including: genetic improvement & germplasm innovation of Chinese cattle meat, establishment & operation of joint breeding systems of beef cattle, standard breeding & production, slaughter processing & tenderization of modern beef cattle, quality control & safety tracking for production of quality beef, and international trading & marketing systems.
